David Frisby
While at university in London, David formed a band gigging around the capital and going as far afield as CBGBs in New York and Japan. When the all-elusive recording contract failed to materialise, he jumped at the chance of running at Chrysalis TV where most of the post-production and studio filming was done for MTV. With a love of timing and Tetris, he decided editing could be something he could be good at and soon found himself in the edit suites cutting together programmes for MTV’s new presenters Davina McCall, Trevor Nelson, Zane Lowe, Cat Deely and Edith Bowman.
In 1997 he moved to Evolutions TV where he started cutting multi-camera live performances for bands at gigs and festivals around the world, including Coldplay, REM, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Who, Foo Fighters, and Kaiser Chiefs, Kings Of Leon and Amy Winehouse.
He also branched into comedy, teaming up with Dom Joly to make Trigger Happy TV and going on set to edit The Thick of It. Other comedy credits include Armando Iannucci’s 2004:The Stupid Version, Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle, The Impression Show, Facejacker, QI and more recently 21 Series of Taskmaster. From there David broadened his work across an eclectic mix of genres including entertainment, factual programming, reality and documentaries.
